Tutorial: Sonic Screwdriver Earrings, in eleven easy steps!

better pictures under the cut!

I don’t normally do tutorials, but I know someone’s going to ask. SO.

STEP ONE: Take a ball of plain white sculpey polymer oven bake clay, about this size:

then roll it into a log kind of like this

STEP TWO: Take a smaller ball of clay, and roll it as shown above, except a lot thinner, like this:

then take an exacto knife and cut it in half

STEP THREE: Take those two halves and wrap them all the way around the first log of clay you made (a teensy bit closer to the bottom)

then take a toothpick and kind of roll it to smooth the inside edges down

do this all the way around

STEP FOUR: Take the shorter end under the handle thing you just did and roll it between your fingers

so it looks like this

STEP FIVE: take your toothpick and flatten below what you just did until it’s got kind of a hexagonal type shape (but not all the way to the bottom)

then roll out a little ball of clay like in step three and put it like this:

don’t smooth it down with a toothpick this time

STEP SIX: Take your exacto knife and carve a line all the way around halfway down from the piece you just added on

cut a teeny little rectangle of clay with your exacto knife and place it somewhere on this line and add two scores to make it look like hinges

STEP SEVEN: Take the top end now, just like in step four, and roll it between your fingers

cut the top off, roll it into a ball, and carve a line just below it with the exacto knife

STEP EIGHT: roll out a piece of clay (rather thin) and cut it into fours

take one of the fours and place it like this

repeat with the other three

STEP NINE: roll out another rather thin piece, then cut into fours again

place it like this

repeat with the other three, adding hasmark scores on them with the exacto knife

should look like this when done

STEP TEN: bake in oven (not microwave, you would have a big-ass mess to clean up) at 275 degrees (fahrenheit) for about ten minutes

let cool

then paint

cover with sculpey glaze, or clear nail polish

STEP ELEVEN: Attach fish hook! Viola!

Congratulations you now have to make another one. Have a fun two more hours, peasant.
